So there are 200,000,000 blogs out there. That's a lot. If you write one, will anyone read it? Will anyone care?
Well, they will if you're passionate enough. If you're interesting. If you're witty. If you're up to date and relevant.
If ever there was a reason to blog it's the incredible success of 13-year-old Tavi, a small town girl from the 'burbs.
On her blog, Style Rookie, she describes herself as 'Tiny 13 year old dork that sits inside all day wearing awkward jackets and pretty hats'. But she is modest. Her blog is full humour, her writing style far more accomplished than her mere 13 years would suggest.
Tavi is a fashion obsessive. She blogs all day long on fashion and style. She dresses herself up and posts the results. She gives us her views on the latest shows. She knows her fashion stuff.
So much so that she herself has become the fashion story. The industry have noticed her blog, and noticed her. They love her. She no longer has to make do with commenting on pictures from the shows - she's at them, by invite from the designers. She is sitting in the front rows. She is smiling impishly whilst being pictured with Anna Wintour. She has her own t-shirt line which she sells through her blog site.
In short, her blog has turned her into a fashion darling and given her direct access to the very world she is so passionate about. Now the fashion world is commenting on her - she is in Grazia, Pop, The New York Times. She has created a brand.
If a 13 year old dork can do it, there's certainly hope for business.
