We recently got to meet garden designer and national TV personality Joe Swift, who worked with us to promote home composting to people throughout the region on behalf of our client the North East Improvement & Efficiency Partnership, Waste & Environment Programme.
As part of the regional tour, Joe met with a variety of people to highlight the benefits of home composting to the environment and the local community. These included a family in Morpeth and staff and children from Hartlepool Young Carer’s Allotment Plot, Bullion Lane Primary School and Sure Start Children’s Centre in Chester-le-Street.
Joe’s visit to the region was organised to help raise awareness during the week long North East Home Composting campaign (18-24 October) – designed to help boost home composting rates and show people just how easy it is. During his visits, Joe gave a quick master-class in how to successfully make compost and the importance of home composting to the environment.
We invited lots of the local media to meet Joe and pick up some of his top tips. Coverage was secured on ITV Tyne Tees, The Journal, The Northern Echo and The Evening Gazette among others. We also produced a short film about Joe’s visit which we have uploaded to YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WftyPf9SQhs.
