Toon duo launch Church High’s brand new all-weather pitch

We’ve been working with long-standing client, Newcastle Church High School, to promote the launch of their new all-weather pitch and we were delighted to welcome Newcastle United stars, Danny Guthrie and Dan Gosling, to the official opening last week.

The two midfield players dropped by to take part in a special Question and Answer session with members of the hockey teams at the Jesmond based school.

With questions ranging from how they unwind to their daily fitness regime, Danny and Dan gave the girls some top tips to help them as they develop their skills and above all, advised them to enjoy sport and keeping fit. The boys also had a go at hockey – one of the team sports that will greatly benefit from the brand new all-weather pitch.

Church High’s new first-class facilities, which were built over the summer, will now give the school’s sporting stars of the future the opportunity to improve their skills across a wide variety of sports. After getting to three national finals last year, the girls are hoping to aim even higher in the 2011/2012 academic year and having the all-weather area will give the school an opportunity to develop its next-generation of hockey and netball players, as well as widening the curriculum to include everything from lacrosse to football.

The official launch of the all-weather pitch coincided with a week-long programme of activities in celebration of Church High’s Health & Fitness week. Activities taking place throughout the week to promote healthy living for all the pupils at the leading girls’ independent school included kick boxing classes, a fruit art installation and a motivational presentation by England rugby star, Katy Storie.
